The Union Cabinet on 18 August approved the National Mission on Edible Oils- Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) with a financial outlay of Rs 11,040 crore.
The National Palm Oil Mission has been approved in the cabinet and CCEA meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the nation from Red Fort on 15th August. Rs 11,000 crore will be spent on National Palm Mission.
The main objective of the National Palm Oil Mission: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the main objective of the National Palm Oil Mission is to provide assured practical prices to the farmers for the cultivation of palm. Along with this, in the next five years, to promote domestic cultivation of palm oil and reduce the country’s dependence on edible oil imports.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that palm oil is still being cultivated in the country, but now it will be promoted further. He said that due to the fluctuation in the price of edible oil, the cultivation of palm was not profitable for the small farmers. Now the central government is starting the National Edible Oil Mission. The consumption of edible oil in India is estimated to increase by 3 to 3.5 per cent annually.
प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में कैबिनेट और सीसीईए (CCEA) की बैठक में नेशनल पाम ऑयल मिशन को मंजूरी दे दी गई है| जिसकी घोषणा 15 अगस्त को लाल किले से राष्ट्र के नाम संबोधन के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने की थी| नेशनल पाम मिशन पर 11,000 करोड़ रुपये खर्च किए जाएंगे|
केंद्रीय कृषि मंत्री नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर ने बताया कि नेशनल पाम ऑयल मिशन का मुख्य उद्देश्य किसानों को पाम की खेती के लिए सुनिश्चित व्यवहारिक मूल्य प्रदान करना है| इसके साथ ही अगले पांच वर्षों में पाम तेल की घरेलू खेती को बढ़ावा देना और खाद्य तेल आयात पर देश की निर्भरता को कम करना है|
कृषि एवं किसान कल्याण मंत्री नरेंद्र सिंह तोमर ने बताया कि देश में अब भी पाम ऑयल की खेती हो रही है, लेकिन अब इसे ओर बढ़ावा जाएगा| उन्होंने बताया कि खाने के तेल के भाव में उतार-चढ़ाव की वजह से छोटे किसानों के लिए पाम की खेती फायदेमंद नहीं थी| अब केंद्र सरकार नेशनल एडिबल ऑयल मिशन शुरू कर रही है| भारत में खाने के तेल की खपत में सालाना 3 से 3.5 फीसदी वृद्धि का अनुमान है|
