Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana on May 1, 2016. Under this scheme, a target was set to distribute gas connections to the women of five crore poor families.
Recently, PM Modi launched the second phase of Ujjwala Yojana on 10 August 2021. Due to which LPG connection will be distributed to the beneficiaries living below the poverty line in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh on 11th August.
Prime Minister launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Gas Yojana 2.0 from Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh through video conferencing on 10 August 2021. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present in it. The beneficiaries of this scheme will now get the first fully filled cylinder as well as the stove free of cost.
The Prime Minister’s Office has told that to take advantage of Ujjwala 2.0, migrants will not need to submit a ration card and address proof. The needy families will now be able to take advantage of the scheme by giving their own verified applications.
In the budget of the financial year 21-22, the provision of one crore additional LPG connections was announced under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The objective of these one crore additional PMUY connections is to provide LPG connections to the low-income households who could not get it in the first round.

After this, in the year 2018, seven more categories of women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Antyodaya Anna Yojana, Most Backward Classes, tea garden workers, forest dwellers and people living in islands were also included.

(प्रधानमंत्री ने 10 अगस्त 2021 को वीडियो कान्फ्रेंसिंग के जरिए प्रधानमंत्री उज्जवला गैस योजना 2.0 की शुरुआत उत्तर प्रदेश के महोबा जिले से की| इसमें उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ भी मौजूद थे| इस योजना के लाभार्थियों को अब पहला पूरा भरा सिलिंडर के साथ चूल्हा भी फ्री मिलेगा|)
(प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय ने बताया है कि उज्ज्वला 2.0 का लाभ लेने के लिए प्रवासियों को राशन कार्ड और एड्रेस प्रूफ जमा करने की जरूरत नहीं होगी| जरूरतमंद परिवार अब खुद के द्वारा सत्यापित आवेदन देकर योजना का लाभ ले सकेगे|)
(वित्त वर्ष 21-22 के बजट में प्रधानमंत्री उज्जवला योजना के तहत एक करोड़ अतिरिक्त एलपीजी कनेक्शन के प्रावधान की घोषणा की थी| इन एक करोड़ अतिरिक्त पीएमयूवाई कनेक्शन का उद्देश्य उन कम आय वाले परिवारों को एलपीजी कनेक्शन मुहैया करवाना है, जिन्हें पहले दौर में नहीं मिल सका|)
(योजना की शुरुआत: प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने एक मई 2016 को प्रधानमंत्री उज्ज्वला योजना को लॉन्च किया था| इस योजना के तहत पांच करोड़ गरीब परिवार की महिलाओं को गैस कनेक्शन बांटने का लक्ष्य रखा गया| इसके बाद साल 2018 में इस योजना को आगे बढ़ाते हुए सात और कैटेगरी की महिलाओं, अनुसूचित जाति, अनुसूचित जनजाति, अंत्योदय अन्न योजना, अति पिछड़ा वर्ग, चाय बगान वर्कर, वनवासी और द्वीपों में रहने वाले लोगों को भी शामिल कर लिया था|)
