Article 48 of the Constitution of India also states that the cow shall protect the breed and prohibit the slaughter of cows including milch and hungry animals. Cow slaughter is banned in 24 out of 29 states of India.

Rejecting the bail application of Javed, accused of cow slaughter, Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav said that the government will have to bring a bill in Parliament to declare the cow as a fundamental right and make strict laws against those who kill cows. cause harm. गो हत्या के आरोपी जावेद की जमानत अर्जी नामंजूर करते हुए न्यायमूर्ति शेखर कुमार यादव ने कहा कि सरकार को संसद में बिल लाकर गाय को मौलिक अधिकार में शामिल करते हुए राष्ट्रीय पशु घोषित करना होगा और उन लोगों के विरुद्ध् कड़े कानून बनाने होंगे, जो गायों को नुकसान पहुंचाते हैं| कोर्ट ने कहा कि जब गाय का कल्याण तभी इस देश का कल्याण होगा|
