Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has resigned from his post today amid the ongoing discord in the Punjab Congress. A meeting of Punjab MLAs was called on Saturday. Before that, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh held a meeting with his supporting MLAs and ministers. After this, he reached the Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation letter to the Governor.
After the resignation of Captain Amarinder Singh, the Congress Legislature Party will meet at 5 pm and it is believed that the new Legislature Party leader can be elected in it.
According to sources, Captain Amarinder Singh was feeling humiliated due to the latest political developments in Punjab. Apart from this, there is a possibility of a split in the Congress after the resignation of the Captain. According to sources, CM Captain Amarinder Singh had called Sonia Gandhi and objected to the AICC calling a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party without taking her into confidence.
पंजाब कांग्रेस में चल रही कलह के बीच आज पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है| शनिवार को पंजाब के विधायकों की मीटिंग बुलाई गई थी| उससे पहले मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने अपने समर्थक विधायकों और मंत्रियों के साथ बैठक की| इसके बाद राजभवन पहुंचे और अपना त्यागपत्र राज्यपाल को सौंप दिया|
कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह के इस्तीफा देने के बाद कांग्रेस के विधायक दलों की शाम पांच बजे बैठक होगी और माना जा रहा है कि उसमें नए विधायक दल के नेता का चुनाव किया जा सकता है|
सूत्रों के अनुसार, पंजाब के ताजा सियासी घटनाक्रम की वजह से कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह अपमानित महसूस कर रहे थे| इसके अलावा, कैप्टन के इस्तीफे के बाद कांग्रेस मे भी फूट की आशंका नजर आ रही है| सूत्रों के मुताबिक, सीएम कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने सोनिया गांधी को फोन करके AICC द्वारा बिना उन्हें विश्वास में लिए कांग्रेस विधायक दल की बैठक बुलाए जाने पर ऐतराज दर्ज किया था|
