Swachh Survekshan 2021: Indore city has been declared the cleanest city in the country for the fifth time in a row. In the Swachh Survekshan Puraskar 2021, Surat has got second place and Vijayawada has got a third-place among the cleanest cities.

Swachh Survekshan 2021: Recently the results of the Annual Swachh Survekshan Puraskar 2021 were announced. In which Indore has been declared the cleanest city for the fifth time in a row in the annual cleanliness survey of the central government. In the Swachh Survekshan Puraskar 2021, Surat has got second place and Vijayawada has got a third-place among the cleanest cities.

Keep in mind that even during the cleanliness surveys of the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 of the central government, Indore was the top in the country. To retain this title in the survey for the year 2021, IMC had given the slogan “Indore Lagaga Swachhata Ka Punch”.

At the same time, Chhattisgarh has been given the award of the cleanest state in the annual cleanliness survey. In the year 2020, Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra was ranked as the third cleanest city in India.

Key Point

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi has got the first prize in the category of “Clean Ganga City” in the survey. In this category, Munger of Bihar got second and Patna got third place.
• Chhattisgarh has got the cleanest state award in the survey while Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh got the second and third place among the cleanest states in the country having more than 100 urban local bodies.
• In the category of states having less than 100 urban local bodies, Jharkhand got first place followed by Haryana and Goa.
• Indore, Surat, Vijayawada, Navi Mumbai, New Delhi, Ambikapur, Tirupati, Pune, Noida and Ujjain are among the top 10 cleanest cities with a population of more than one lakh.
• Among the cities with a population of less than one lakh, Vita city of Maharashtra got first place followed by Lonavala and Saswad city.
• Ahmedabad got the cleanest city award in the Cantonment Board category. After Ahmedabad, Meerut and Delhi got the place.

President Ram Nath Kovind said that manual scavenging is a shameful practice and it is not only the government’s responsibility to stop it but the society and all the citizens of the country. He suggested that machine cleaning facilities should be made available in all cities. The President also talked about adopting good practices and practices of cleanliness award-winning cities.
