UNESCO Creative Cities Network 2021: In the UNESCO Creative City of Network, the folk and crafts of Srinagar have been mentioned. This has also given a new identity to the cultural diversity of Srinagar.
UNESCO Creative Cities Network 2021: Recently, Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, has been included in UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network. This network includes 295 cities in 90 countries. Srinagar has been included in the UNESCO list under the Crafts and Folk Art category.
Prime Minister Modi also expressed happiness by tweeting on this occasion. The Prime Minister wrote in his tweet, “It is a matter of great pleasure that beautiful Srinagar has joined UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network. UNESCO mentions the Folk and Craft Art of Srinagar. It also brings to the fore the cultural diversity of Srinagar. Got a new identity | Many many congratulations to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In 2015, Jaipur was recognized for Crafts and Folk Arts, and in 2015 and 2017 respectively, Varanasi and Chennai were recognized as members of the UCCN for Cities as Creative Cities of Music. Whereas Mumbai and Hyderabad were included in this list in October 2019.
