CDS Bipin Rawat Death: General Rawat Army Chief was made the country’s first Chief of Defense Staff after retiring on 31 December 2019. He was in the post of Army Chief from 31 December 2016.
CDS Bipin Rawat Death: Recently, Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat died in an Air Force helicopter crash in Kannur, Tamil Nadu on 08 December 2021. According to media reports, General Rawat was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition after the helicopter crash, where he breathed his last.
CDS Bipin Rawat was accompanied by 14 people including his wife and senior army officers on the plane. The Air Force said that 13 out of 14 people have died. Group Captain Varun Singh is undergoing treatment. This plane had flown from Suloor to Wellington and after some time it crashed.
The Defense Minister tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other Armed Forces personnel in a very unfortunate helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu today. His untimely demise is an irreparable loss to our armed forces and the nation.
This accident happened near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on 08 December 2021. The helicopter with which this accident happened was a Mi-17V5 double engined Indian Air Force. Given the experience of working in disturbed areas, the Modi government made General Rawat the Army Chief in December 2016, giving preference to two senior officers.
