Mahatma Gandhi Punyatithi 2022: On this day in 1948, on 30th January, Nathuram Godse shot and killed Gandhiji at around 5 pm. Since then, Gandhi’s death anniversary is celebrated every year on 30 January. This time we are celebrating the 78th death anniversary of Gandhiji.
Birth of Gandhiji:
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi received his higher education in England before returning to India and led the freedom struggle against British rule. He raised the flag of ‘non-violence’ in India and got India independence by countering the mighty British with non-violent protests.
