Pradhanmantri e-Vidya Scheme: Presenting the Union Budget 2022-23 on 01 February, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the ‘PM e-Vidya’ scheme to promote digital education. Union Budget was presented through the digital medium for the second time during the Corona period.
Announcing the ‘PM e-Vidya’ scheme, the Finance Minister said that schools, colleges, and all other educational institutions remained closed for a long time due to the Corona epidemic, which has had an impact on the education of every class of students. Most of which is affecting the education of students belonging to other weaker sections including scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in rural areas.
What is PM e-Vidya Yojana?
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that PM e-Vidya Yojana is being implemented to strengthen the education system. Under this scheme, the work of giving education to the students through 200 TV channels will be increased from 12 to one class one TV channel program.

The Finance Minister said that the internet is not accessible in every area, but TV is present in almost all areas. He said that almost all the houses have a TV. People watch TV in their own regional languages, so education will be provided in regional languages through TV channels.
Further, the Finance Minister said that in the financial year 2022-23, vocational courses and creativity courses will be started to boost the skills of the students. 750 virtual labs and 75 skill e-labs will be started in science and maths language. Teachers will be available through digital mode promoting digital education.
