World Pulses Day 2022: This day was announced by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to recognize the importance of pulses (dry beans, lentils, dried peas, chickpeas, lupine) as a global food.
World Pulses Day: World Pulses Day designated by the United Nations is celebrated every year on 10 February. The theme of this year’s World Pulses Day is: “Pulses to empower youth to achieve sustainable agricultural food systems”.
The day was announced by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to recognize the importance of pulses (dry beans, lentils, dried peas, chickpeas, lupine) as a global food. In 2018, the United Nations General Assembly decided to mark 10 February as World Pulses Day.

The first World Pulses Day (WPD) was held on February 10, 2019. On 20 December 2013, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution (A/RES/68/231) declaring 2016 as the International Year of Pulses (IYP).
The year’s celebration, led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), raised public awareness of the nutritional and environmental benefits of pulses as part of sustainable food production. Food and Agriculture Organization headquartered in Rome, Italy founded was done on 16 October 1945. Its current head is Qi Dongyu.
