Export Preparedness Index: Recently, NITI Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2021 has been released. Gujarat is in the first place, followed by Maharashtra and Karnataka in second and third place respectively.

Gujarat has topped the NITI Aayog rankings for the second year in a row for the “Export Readiness Index 2021”, which aims to assess the preparedness of states in terms of export potential and performance. Ever since the formation of NITI Aayog, NITI Aayog releases Export Preparedness Index every year.

According to the Export Readiness Index, Gujarat is followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Whereas the Union Territories and the states in the worst place are Lakshadweep, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Ladakh, and Meghalaya. The Export Readiness Index measures the state’s readiness for exports in terms of capacity and performance.

NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar, while speaking at the launch of the study, said that India’s exports are growing at the rate of 36%, while the global trade is growing at the rate of 30%., Over a long period of time, we will see India’s share of world goods trade increase from 1.6 to 1.7 percent,” he said, adding that sectors such as cars, electrical machinery, and iron and steel have contributed significantly to the expansion.
