WORLD CONSUMER RIGHTS DAY 2022: World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated every year on 15 March for consumer protection and empowerment. It is an annual occasion for celebration and solidarity within the international consumer movement.

The objective of celebrating World Consumer Rights Day:-

The purpose of this day is to draw attention to the wrong things prevalent in the market. On this day, people around the world promote the basic rights of all consumers and demand that those rights be respected and protected and protest about market abuse and social injustices that make them vulnerable.

World Consumer Rights Day Theme 2022:

Consumer International has kept the theme of World Consumer Rights Day 2022 as “Fair Digital Finance”. The global consumer advocacy movement will call for fair digital finance for consumers everywhere. The theme of World Consumer Rights Day in 2021 was ‘Tackling Plastic Pollution’ and in 2020 it was ‘The Sustainable Consumer’.

History of Consumer Rights Day:-

This Consumer Rights Day was inspired by US President John F Kennedy and a special message was sent by him to the US Congress on 15 March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. Since 1983, this day is being celebrated every year on 15th March.

 Kennedy said that the definition of consumers includes all of us. They are the largest economic group, influenced and influenced by almost every public and private economic decision. Yet they are the only important group… whose views are often not heard.
