The world’s largest museum dedicated to Harappan culture will soon open in Rakhigarhi, Haryana, to display artifacts from the Indus Valley that date back roughly 5,000 years.

Between 2600 and 1900 BC, the settlement of Rakhigarhi was a part of the Indus Valley Civilization. The world’s largest museum devoted to the Harappan culture will be located in Haryana.

A hamlet in Haryana’s Hisar district, Rakhigarhi is about 150 kilometers from Delhi. This hamlet is also a well-known Indus Valley civilization archaeological site.

Manohar LalKhattar, the state’s chief minister, examined the ongoing building projects on Sunday.

Additionally, he gave instructions to ASI staff members to complete the excavation work as soon as feasible. 5000-year-old Indus Valley relics will be on display at the museum, according to officials.

Rakhigarhi’s history:

The archaeological remnants of Rakhigarhi can be seen in the villages of RakhiKhas and RakhiShahpur. In 1963, the ASI first began demolishing a village’s foundation.

The Rakhigarhi region was the location of 56 skeleton discoveries up till 1998. Two of them were female skeletal fragments from an estimated 7000 years ago.

In addition, several shell bracelets, a copper mirror, and semi-precious stone beads were found on both skeletons’ hands.

The metropolis of Harappa, thought to be 4700 years old and created in the 1920s, is located on the subcontinent.

The discovery of other cities quickly followed the appearance of towns like Lothal, Dholavira, Mohenjo-Daro, and Kalibangan, which resulted in the Harappan Civilization and the Indus Valley Civilization.
