India Begins Trial of 6G Alliance

Recently India has taken a significant step in the field of telecommunication by securing more than 200 patents for 6G technology. Communications and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made this announcement during the launch of India 6G Alliance in New Delhi.

The alliance, made up of industry, academia and the central government, aims to take forward all 6G related initiatives in a systematic and orderly manner.

  • Providing advanced capabilities such as superior reliability, ultra-low latency, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Revolutionizing communications by providing speeds nearly 100 times faster than 5G.
  • Opening up exciting possibilities for the development of innovative communications applications.

Why the need for India 6G Alliance

Recognizing the fast-paced nature of the telecom sector in India and the importance of staying ahead of technological obsolescence, the Department of Telecom launched the India 6G Alliance.

The primary objective of this alliance is to go beyond technical requirements and understand the business and societal needs of 6G technology. By fostering consensus and fostering open research and development initiatives, B6GA aims to promote the design, development and deployment of 6G technologies in India.

Another notable achievement in the telecom sector is the provision of nearly 1,50,000 broadband connections in rural areas in the last nine years.

Bridging the digital divide and ensuring that rural communities have access to affordable and reliable internet services has been a priority for the Government of India.

These efforts have opened new avenues for education, healthcare, e-commerce and overall socio-economic development in rural India.
