In the ongoing hockey tournament, India has won the inaugural Men’s Hockey Fives Asia Cup 2023 in Salalah, Oman after defeating Pakistan in the penalty shootout in the final. The win also serves as a qualifying tournament for the FIH Men’s Hockey 5 World Cup Oman 2024 in Asia. Subsequently, India qualified for the FIH Men’s Hockey 5 World Cup Oman 2024.
This is the first time in three matches that India has defeated Pakistan in the Hockey Fives format. Trailing 2-4 in the second half, India took the match to a shootout thanks to two goals from Mohammad Raheel. Pakistan wasted all their chances in the shoot-out while Maninder Singh scored India’s second goal in the shoot-out with a hammer blow on the coffin. Earlier in the evening, India beat Malaysia 10-4 in the semi-finals.
Pakistan entered the final by defeating Oman 7-3. Hockey India has announced to give Rs 2-2 lakh to each player of the team and Rs 1-1 lakh to the support staff. पाकिस्तान ने ओमान को 7-3 से हराकर फाइनल में प्रवेश किया. हॉकी इंडिया ने टीम के हर खिलाड़ी को 2-2 लाख रुपये और सपोर्ट स्टाफ को 1-1 लाख रुपये देने का ऐलान किया है. हॉकी इंडिया के अध्यक्ष दिलीप टिर्की ने एफआईएच पुरुष हॉकी फाइव विश्व कप ओमान 2024 के लिए क्वालीफाई करने और स्वर्ण पदक जीतने के लिए टीम को बधाई दी।
