The 14th chief minister of Rajasthan is Bhajan Lal Sha

For the first time in history, the President of India administered the oath to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan from the newly established office in Jaipur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ex-Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot graced the swearing-in ceremony that was conducted at the Albert Hall Museum.

  • For Sharma ji, an outstanding feat is becoming the first MLA to become a Chief Minister directly from Jaipur.
  • For the first time, Bhajan Lal Sharma is a 55-year-old politician, with experience of being state general secretary and holding the post of the state president four times in BJP.
  • In the election for the Rajasthan assembly held in 2023, BJP won with 115 out of 199 seats.

Maldives Breaks Hydrographic Survey Agreement With India

To the shock of many individuals, the Maldivian government declared on 14 December that it was breaking down a Hydrographic Survey Agreement with India. In 2019, an agreement was signed, which gave India a chance to explore the waters surrounding the Maldives Islands. They looked at such features as reefs, lagoons, coastlines, sea currents, and tides.

  • Recently, the Indian Navy has participated in a series of hydrographic surveys together with the Maldives National Defense Force which were conducted from the 19th to 26th February 2023.
  • The withdrawal of 75 Indian soldiers serving in the Maldives provides additional proof. in diplomatic relations.
  • The cancellation of this agreement is significant because it reflects the alteration of the political geography of the location after more than four decades when India has been delivering arms to the Maldives.

Kenya announces visa-free entry effective from January 2024.

In a notable declaration on December 12, Kenyan President William Ruto revealed that effective from January 2024, visitors will be given free visa entry to the country. This move seeks to promote tourism in Kenya known for its various topographies and colorful ways of life.

  • Kenya has made it possible for tourists to no longer need visas when traveling because they only require an e-travel authority.
  • This decision is likely to attract many new tourists, especially adventurers interested in wildlife safaris as some famous destinations having unusual safaris like Masai Mara Safari offer Simba Safari, Twiga Safari, Lion Safari, and Tambo Safari.
  • Thus, like Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand which previously allowed Indians to obtain free visas, Kenya makes it one of the countries that do not require issuing a visa.
  • The development of this pattern complies with modern tendencies and will enhance the inflow of Indian travelers to foreign sites.
  • As per the data from the Ministry of External Affairs in India, in the year 2022 approximately 2.1 crores Indian citizens visited different international destinations. (Current Affairs News- 2023)
