He was one of a kind, honest man who had served the country faithfully. Let’s explore his life, successes, and how he fell victim to mysterious affairs which led to his death.
Lal bahadur Shastri’s political journey.
He was born in Mughalsarai on 2nd Oct, 1904 into a simple Hindu family that showed sincerity and realism from his childhood. His father died when he was young and therefore lived in his paternal grandfather’s home. It is intriguing to note that he was born on the same day as Mahatma Gandhi.
At sixteen years old, Shastri left schoolwork and joined Mahatma Gandhi’s battle for independence. This shows he was committed to his own as well as national affairs because after he got married in 1928.
Interesting Facts and Achievements
Thereafter, Shastri attended Kashi Vidyapeeth where he became Shastri (one who gains higher education). He was imprisoned for seven years during the freedom struggle and finally became a great fellow fighter.
As a member of the Congress government, he served as parliamentary secretary for Uttar Pradesh and the northwest province in 1946. Water planes instead of sticks were his conceptions when serving as the minister in charge of Police and Transport.
The Mystery of His Death
Shastri died on 11 January 1966 in Tashkent, which is located within the boundaries of the Republic of Uzbekistan. However, the way and cause of JFK’s demise remains mysterious. His relatives argued that it was a heart attack, though claims about poison persist.
His Legacy and Recognition
He received a posthumous Bharat Ratna award in 1966, making him the first since Rana Pratap, whom he succeeded as the first person to be so honored since Rana Pratap, whom he succeeded.
