The CMVR approves the Tata Starbus 4/12 FCEV models and their alternative counterparts, which belong to Tata Motors today, 12th December. This has set a record of being India’s first electric vehicle bus to be fully certified for using green hydrogen fuel cells.

ARAI confirms that the star bus made by Tata Motors, 4/12, complies with all notified provisions of CMVR and it’s the OEM in India who is the first to receive the CMVR approval certificate.

What is ARAI’s CMVR certification?

CMVR is a statute for motor vehicle testing in India, while the Association of Automotive Research Institutes (ARAI) is an R&D association for the automobile industry. Some examples include putting EVs through a test of driving range, road endurance for ICE, and maximum speeds.

Following the tests by ARAI, automaker companies are awarded certificates whose range or mileage is referred to as certified range or mileage.

Modren features were incorporated into the Tata Star Bus EV.

This EV is a 4/12 meter low-floor electric bus that comes in an AC mode or is non-air conditioned. There is plenty of room and good amenities on board the bus. These entail a charge port on each seat, onboard Wi-Fi, interior lighting, and LED headlamps.

Maximum power of 329 HP and a driving range of 200 Km

The performance of the EV is based on the electric motor that gives a maximum power output of 329 HP. The maximum speed of a Starbucks EV by Tata Motors is about 70-75 kmph.

A 200km range with a full charge is said for a 250kWh lithium-ion battery that powers the motor. Hydrogen fuel cell-driven EV Bus features regenerative braking and ITS.
