INS Imphal joins the Navy

Furthermore, in a significant step to strengthen the capabilities of the Indian Navy as China gradually makes its presence felt in the western Indian Ocean, INS Imphal was commissioned at Mumbai Dockyard on 26 December.

State-of-the-Art Features of Indian Naval Ship Imphal

• INS Imphal, built by MDL (an under-pro of Mazagon Dockship Builders Limited) in Mumbai, is a formidable destroyer armed with 8 surface-to-surface missiles and 16 BrahMos anti-missiles; Ship M SS ILS. It also has surveillance radar and rap
• mounted guns, and anti-submarine torpedoes. Made from indigenous steel, DMR 249A reflects a commendable 75% of its components.
• Named after a city in the North East, INS Imphal honors the sacrifices and contributions of Manipur during India’s freedom struggle. The first warship of this name is truly remarkable.
• The historical importance of the ship has increased with the President’s approval for this naming on April 16, 2019.
• On October 20, 2023, after an exhausting series of evaluations and trials, the transfer ceremony of INS Imphal to the Indian Navy took place.
• Destroyer 04 is the third of the four Visakhapatnam-class destroyers designed by the Warship Design Bureau and comes as part of Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar’s aim to build a fleet of 170-175 ships for India.Current Affairs

Madhya Pradesh: ‘Tabla Day’ declared

Turning towards cultural achievements, Madhya Pradesh celebrated ‘Tabla Diwas’ on 25th December. When one thousand five hundred tabla players gathered at Gwalior Fort, a world record was created. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia participated in this program. CM Yadav said that from now on, the annual ‘Tabla Day’ will be organized in the state.

This great event coincided with Gwalior’s ‘Tansen Samaroh’, a musical festival that lasted till 28 December. ‘Tabla Darbar’ added to the beauty of the fort, in which tabla players from 50 cities participated extensively in this rhythm-drenched festival. A huge stage spread over approximately eighteen and a half thousand square feet.
