Maharashtra’s first woman Rashmi Shukla took over as DGP

4 Dec, in a pioneering act, the Maharashtra government appointed Rashmi Shukla as the first woman Director General of Police (DGP) for the state. 1988 batch IPS Rajneesh Seth retires and DL IG Sanjeev Nautiyal takes over, marking a landmark day in local law enforcement.

  • She was the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) from March 2023, after her stint as Pune Police Commissioner and Head of the Intelligence Department in Maharashtra.

Revolutionizing Agriculture: Toor Dal Procurement Portal Launched

  • 4th January, Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the Toor Dal Procurement Portal at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
  • The Toor Dal supply portal which is developed in several languages simplifies the process for tur dal farmers.
  • On this platform, farmers can sell their pulses online and receive the payments directly to their accounts.
  • Registration, purchasing, and payment processes are made simpler for the farmers as well as the government thus improving efficiency. Importantly, only the registered farmers on this portal will be entitled to procure pulses for holding buffer stock.
  • Nowadays, the curative/buffer stock for pulses including tur dal is procured and maintained by governmental agencies such as NAFED National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India, NCCF.
