Supreme Court’s decision on Bilkis gangrape case
1 on January 8 The Supreme Court ruled to overturn the state government’s early release of 1,20 convicts that formed part of the Bilkis Bano gangrape case during the Gujarat riots in Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuiyan highlighted that punishment acts as a deterrent to crime and stressed the imperative of paying more attention to the agony endured by victims.
